WHO WE ARE

Myanmar Biodiversity Fund (MBF) is Myanmar's first independent Conservation Trust Fund (CTF). It was registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee (not-for-profit company) at the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) in July 2019 in accordance with Myanmar Companies Law (2017). CTFs have been established since the 1990s, and there are now more than 100 CTFs globally, with the number likely to increase to enhance sustainable financing mechanisms. Over the past few decades, CTFs have learned a lot about how to attract donor seed funding and manage funds effectively and transparently. MBF was structured by taking into account the wide experience and lessons learned from other international CTFs. Several consultations were held with international experts involved in setting up similar funds and with national experts to find an appropriate, effective, transparent, and vibrant structure. MBF has further adapted its operations to be as effective as possible in the post COVID-19 period.
